Ok, here we go again—another custom build. Have not done one of these on the Forum for a while, so I guess the time has again come. This one will be similar to one of the other flamed builds I did about 2 years ago. Hopefully enough time has passed that you forgot everything that was showed on those threads!

This Warmoth Strat body just arrived today. This is the first one that I have purchased that is chambered. (Have any of you used a chambered Strat body??) It has 1/8 matchbook flamed Maple cap on Swamp Ash in a nice red burst color. So you can imagine what color pickguard I will use??? and pickups?? :?: I have some nice parts to go with this…so more to come.

Gotta keep this guy home. Everytime he returns from travels abroad he builds another guitar. Is this what happens when one answers to a 'Higher Authority.'
I thought it only applied to frankfurters.

xhefri, I'm looking forward to this build as I've not been around on the forum for any of your others.

I'm going to guess black-red-black guard loaded with black lace sensors (with a dually in the bridge).

Am I warm? :?

Ummmm  How did you guess! Also an Ultra Neck with a Black Ebony fretboard with Abalone inlays.

Actually I never thought about this as I had Nobby1974's idea in mind from the start. Would look cool with a red pearl pickguard and then use black pickup covers, maybe? But truth is, I spent months thinking about this project. I was watching bodied on Warmoth, marking some and finally decided on this one because I love Maple flame and the red/black I thought would be offset nice with black/red/black pickguard with black pickups. We will see how it looks. Also note I have refrained from calling this body a fire red like seen in some kind of storm!  Tempted but didn't  .

heh, you've got history my friend!

That's going to hang together really nicely - an ebony fretboard will really add to it too I think. Killer top by the way - I like the angle to the bookmatching, it's more interesting than a square cut.

Was the choice of a chambered body a weight consideration or tone consideration (or both)?

Cheers,

The Black guard and Laces sounds great and might I suggest with that body color, one of yours (IIRC) black guards with the red pinstripes?

Great looking body...wow first time I have ever said that to a dude!!

Keeping with the ultra configuration, I'm thinking a 4ply tortoise shell guard with aged cream coloured lace sensors and aged plastic knobs would look terrif on this guitar! :D
