Hello All,

Over the weekend at a local yard sale
I picked up a instructional guitar DVD
"12-bar Blues featuring Dave Rubin"
at 3 dolars a real bargain it included
a accompanying booklet.

Anybody else ever find sweet
guitar or music related deals?

Cheers.

I found an original vinyl copy of Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight" single once. I sold it later to a collector for quite a bit of money.

I got a very good condition copy of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs last summer.

I saw a nice little amp for $40, but I didn't really need it.

I've picked up a couple pedals from garage sales. A few CDs and quite a bit of old fishing equipment, all on the cheap.

I'm so OCD about garage sales and auctions, I just cant pass one up.

I have however scored a lot of old amps that way and a few guitars.

most of the time its worthless junk, solid state stuff and newer china made guitars, just enough times to feed my compulsion though a dust covered tube amp stuck off in a corner catches my eye.

There was an auction a few weeks ago, selling two guitars and a violin, both at least fifty years old, but I had to go out for my sister's birthday.

I dunno, flea markets and yard sales are just about dried out to me. People move and shift stuff out of the house far more often now than they used to.

Ten years ago, the local 'Bargain Post' weekly paper used to have good stuff. I got a '62 Bassman head ($300), '67 Twin Reverb ($650) and a mint original '65 Deluxe Reverb (original tubes, footswitch, and amp cover!) for $850 that way. But again, that was ten years ago.

P.S. I still have them all!

I wish I could say I found a great deal but I cant. It seems like Im always too late. Even on Craigslist. I can call 5 minutes after the post time and no one will answer or return the call or its already gone. I swear there must be some dealer or money hungry collectors that only monitor Craigslist. This a.m. was a good example. I see a post for a Made in Japan Fender Strat that was repainted by the owner. I call and so far no reply. I called like 10 minutes after it was posted. One day........

lets face it guys this is the information age, not too many uninformed sellers out there any more.

Thankfully guitar players can be such a fickle bunch and so if you wait you can find bargains on nearly new gear that didnt scratch the itch of the other guy.
