Best news ever! Starcaster has been reissued! I've got one (so far) on order! :D

With my pending Starcaster on the way, I'm already on the hunt for a suitable case :)

Judging by the buzz around the web, on all the big well known forums and beyond, alongside the pricepoint/affordability of the Starcasters, it looks like there will be a lot of new starcaster owners very soon.

So..... what do we put them in for transportation etc....?

With the Starcaster's Original body shape, any suggestions for a suitable case to hold it?

I'm sure some kind of other branded gig bag dealio would suffice, but.......

I suppose we could say the same for the Coronado too, Although the Starcaster seems to be more of a rare shaped beast.

I for one would love an official Fender Hard case. What say you?

Hmmm, Fender must have some sort of suggestion for a case.

Worse comes to worse, when you get it, drag it down to your local decent music shop and see if you can find a case (Gator or SKB) that will fit it, like something that fits an Ibanez Artcore ...

Totally stoked as well. Been looking to acquire one form some time.

Looks as if the Modern Player guitars may have been made in China, so I'd expect a gig bag.

Did find an image of a Starcaster with case at:

Confirmed directly from Fender Customer Service, these are made in China, which for a strictly made in America guy, a little disappointing :( but if QA standards are high, may be doable.

As far as the cases, a special extra order gig bag will be available in December 2014.

As for hard cases, the guy I spoke to said that they will fit in a "universal" hard case.

And now you know the rest of the story.

Imagine my quest for a case to fit the doubleneck I built (using a Warmoth body and Fender necks).

The trial and error thing, and a helpful music store guy, got me a large Gator case that worked out great.
I bet there's an Epiphone or Ibanez case that'll work just fine.

For fun, I Googled old Starcaster cases. Here's a good one. Notice how there's padding in non-symmetric parts of the body.

Here is the official Fender Starcaster Modern Player gig bag. I called Fender and they directed me to this model number on Amazon and apparently Sam Ash and American Music have it as well.

Model # 099-1612-206

Hey, Gang.

I have a gorgeous '70s Starcaster that, unfortunately, had lost its original hardshell case by the time I found it. After trying lots of cases (it fit in some semi-hollow cases, but not most), I found the Silver Creek Vintage Archtop Hollowbody Guitar Case (available through many major online music stores). It looks great, fits perfectly, is incredibly durable, and it doesn't smell, as several people have claimed. It's a great case. And it's only $90. If you find something better, or have an original Starcaster case, please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy the time that I've saved you!

Greg

Do you have pictures of your Starcaster inside this case?

Did you really think these were made in the USA at the price they sell for? BTW very good quality.

Here are a couple pictures of a Starcaster in the Silver Creek Vintage Archtop Hollowbody Guitar Case that you wanted to see. It doesn't have the extra cushions built in to accomodate the less-than-usual offset shape, as the original case did, but it fits perfectly and doesn't move. I hope they answer your questions!

Hi, forgive me if it's old news, I've been looking for a solution prior to buying, with little success. So, today being a proud new owner of Starcaster here's two I tried.

The Gibson Lucille (90's reissue) was a snug fit around the body, not quite long enough though without a squeeze and the extra support in the lid made it impossible to close on the fender head stock.

The Yamaha SA-1000 (late 70's) case (Yamaha badged) fitted perfectly and lid closed due to the recess in the lid.

Hope this helps, I will update when I find a result.

cheers

So Markamc, I guess you're not a fan of Fenders fabulous gigbag? Yeah neither am I.
