Hi there,

New to the board, I'm George and I want to find out about my acoustic.

I know its from 1985 and is MIK.

I've seen other newporters and what makes mine different is that the flame on top is ridiculous and the string trees are circle and not square like some I've seen.

Here are some pictures.

I'm not even a fan of Fender Acoustics... but that's a beautiful guitar... just looking makes me want to pick it up and see what it can do...

You got something special there!

Thanks!

I sure do, I've not seen one quite like it.

Here are some other ones I've seen, and you'll agree.

Fender acoustics are amazing. You have one gorgeous guitar there.

Any chance of some sound clips?

I've often thought of just playing something like a Prine song, like so many people do on Youtube. But have never gotten around to it. Maybe someday.

I'm sure that mine has not much collectible /rare value anymore since I replaced the preamp, I had to because the old one died. The one design flaw with the guitar was the old preamp had the battery accessible only through the soundhole, not good. I also had the nut/bridge saddle upgraded to tusk/bone rather then the original plastic. Helped the acoustic sound so much but mods always drop the value. That's ok with me since I plan on keeping this one til the end. Thanx too, I was never a "burst" fan but the price was right and the color has really grown on me over time.

Awesome, looking forward to it :)

Through the soundhole? :| thats a bit stupid.

Yeah, mods drop value coz people are so weeny about guitars being 'original'. It annoys me.
The colour is lovely, yeah.

Here's a better pic of mine.

That woodgrain/flamed top on yours is insane! Very defined and classy looking in that dark colored stain.

Yeah, through the soundhole-definitely a poor design, who wants to loosen the strings to get your hand in there? Not something you can do on the fly unless you've got a 7 year old around with small enough hands who can follow directions and pull the right thing out of the guitar!

You've inspired me to take some better photos of my Montara, mine looks like a garage sale reject compared to your photos! :D

Thanks! Told you its special

  Yeah, does sound like a hassle getting in there. The hole doesn't look that large too?

Do it :) Would love to see some glamour shots. Mine only looks the way it is coz I polish the fingerprints off it everyday, change strings everyweek, polish board/frets each string change :P I have MAJOR OCD.

It sure is a looker MPB. I saw the video link you posted on another thread and I was admiring the looks/sound of your acoustic then. Congrats!

Cheers friend :) I had a dream that I sold it for £135 and I regretted it so much I cried  I woke up and played it all day. I'll never get rid of it. I'll busk with it to live if I have to.

If I had sell all my guitars and keep one, I'd keep the acoustic.
