Thanks to all at the CS and my local shop, the Guitar Shop(Mississauga) that helped make this dream come true. For many this is just a plain jane 68/9 Strat with a maple board(Nitro), but for me it's something I've always wanted. An Iconic guitar played by Hendrix(Gypsys) and Blackmore(Fireball), simple yet just right to get the job done.

It arrived exactly as I had wanted it to be. 'Worn in', set up perfectly, but this no doubt will change with the high humidity we are experiencing here in the Great Lakes. I had just had an hour or two with it, but had promised some other forum member that I would post it as soon as I had it done.

The CS does an awesome job-I agree with Mike Eldred's statements echoed by GE Smith-never has Fender made better instruments than now. I have never seen a dud out of there. We all have our preferences to be sure, but this is mine-simple and timeless.

Wow. Beautiful. For me, you can't beat the look of a maple big headstock circa 68 on a worn solid color body. You have picked up a great piece of work.

I'm curious If it's suposed to be a late sixties Strat why doesn't it have more wood on the upper horn. I prefer the vintage cut away on the upper horn, but it seems to be non-period correct." I'm happy for you though. Congrats!

Mike, are those pics from the book "galaxy of strats"? I'd really like that book but $200 and importing from Japan is a lot to swallow for a book. Is it worth the cost?

Thanks. I am very happy with it. I have some other CS stuff too but this is the first one I had made for me. I am afraid this may be like peanuts. :D

These pickups like effects very much. They are not 'grindy' pickups but do the Hendrix thing well with the right signal chain-but hey they even sound great into a vintage tweed amp, because of their clarity. I personally find that each big 'era' of Strat has a particular sound. Finding the right guitar/amp/playing style combo is the key to happiness. And also being realistic about what you can do with it. A Strat will never sound or play like a LP or a Tele. As I once heard Mike say in an interview, they are all different 'brushes'.

Congrats Peter!
I'm a freak for the big headstock stuff too!
Are they 69 pickups?

They sure are Mike. Very nice stuff, the 69's. I also like the 66's and was really blown by them as well when my buddy turned me on to a Time Machine 66. It opened my eyes to what a low output pickup could do, with the right signal chain. I love the big headstocks. I grew up in the 70's so that's the headstock I remember, so that's 'Vintage' for me, :D

All you folks at the CS do an awesome job , and are clearly passionate about what you do. The recipe for success.

GORGEOUS!!!

We talked about this before, that's exactly my next CS Strat, Ritchie Blackmore's black one from Deep Purple's MKII days!! :)

Is it team-built? It looks so good I would order one right now if I could.

Congratulations!
