Post subject:  Problem with Super Champ XD

The amp powers on but i am getting no sound :? also the foot pedel works for switching and is all lit up but on the amp the light beside the ch select does not turn on......could this be a problem with the power tubes ?

Check the speaker cable on the back of the amp. Mine came partway out once and the same thing happened.

Speaker cable is all good that was the first thing i checked :) i am thinking it might be something with the tubes....... i am getting a light huming noise and no ch select light at all on the amp

Ya done everything i can still nothing......so i think a tube change is in order :( I was hoping someone could shed some light on the problem.... just hope its nothing more than the power tube :?

Its about the only thing i can think of since it seems thiers only power to the pedal and nothing else :( Any suggestions for tubes and where to get them ?

Had same problem. Turned out to be the 12AX7 Pre-Amp tube (not the power tubes). Mine actually was "lit", but there was no sound.

Good news is that you can get one of these inexpensively. I used JJ, and I think it sounds better than the stock one that toasted after 6 months.

If the LED for the channel select on the front panel is not lighting, then the problem is probably not related to the tubes. The same power supplies that power that LED also power the solid state amplifiers that feed the tubes, so if there's a problem in that power supply but you are still hearing a hum from the speaker, then the tubes, at least the power tube, are working.

Can you plug in another speaker, look at the tubes to see any burn marks and replace them tightly, check fuse?

i gave the tubes a little tap and got some crackeling in the speaker then it went away completely. I am goin to replace the tubes and if nothing i will take it to the shop :)

Hey BB, I would try replacing the 12AX7 first, then test the amp. The power tubes may not need replacement yet. Art
