Hello Fender friends,

I wanted to get some opinions from some of my fellow Fender Jazzers. Do you guys think that the noiseless pickups are better/not as good as the SCN Jazz pickups and why. I have an '08 American Deluxe Jazz V in the amber with rosewood board, it has the SCN pickups in it. I have heard a couple Fender basses with these pickups, and I have really liked them. What do you guys think?

I've own at the same time an American Deluxe Jazz FMT with the Noiseless pickups and a Victor Bailey Jazz with the SCN. Both were great sounding basses, but to my ears I really did not hear a difference. I know the stock preamps in both those basses are pretty much the same. The only time they sounded different is when I replaced the stock preamp in the Deluxe Jazz with a Sadowsky preamp. Than the basses sounded much different.

No, it's not mine.

Sadowsky preamps give a more "woody" growling sound, especially on a Jazz Bass strung with roundwounds like this killer-sounding Teal Green 4-string from circa late 1999/early 2000.

Hello.....Yep that is a old photo of my FMT after the Sadowsky preamp was put in (you can tell by the knobs). Don't have it any more. In retrospect I which I never traded that bass off. It is a real nice bass.

But I don't think about too much! Not with that '72 jazz I have now!
