Hello,

I'm looking for a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass FMT (QMT) 4-string in perfect/new state Colour: PAO FERRO, Maple Fretboard.

Anyone who can help me out here?

Thank You,

Watch eBay, they come up time to time. I had one I sold around six months ago. Nice bass....than I had a Sadowsky preamp put into it and it was even nicer!

It was like night and day! As much as I like Fenders, they are not really known for great sounding preamps. The one in my QMT was just ok, nothing exciting. But when I had the Sadowsky preamp put in, man did that bass come alive. The tone was nothing less then spectacular! It had more punch, nicer sounding low end. It sounded pretty darn close to my current Sadowsky basses.

Yes, the Fender American QMT/FMT basses are "hard to find" I have a FMT with rosewood fingerboard. Fender discontinuned them I think in 2007 or 2008 so the used market or any stores that have any left over inventory still.

As mentioned, eBay is probably the best bet to find them. I see them every so often in the $1000.00 range used.

Good luck in your search

Don't forget Pricegrabber for finding bargains. I've saved myself a lot of money using them.

Hey XmarcX!

Did you ever find one?

One popped up at the Guitar Center in Tempe, AZ last week. Not new, but excellent condition, very well cared for; amber with maple/maple...serial # DZ2035789.

Does anyone know why they went out of production?

Groove On,
Iris
